Introduction
Hello I am Kahlil the Aspiring clown! You may have found me through social media or seen me spin fire at a local venue. I have been spinning and practicing, what we might call Flow, for about 10 years or so. I have always found the practice of flow to be very natural and cathartic. It gets my body moving and my mind empty or calm. As I have gotten older I have begun to notice the importance of staying physically active. Flow has also brought me a lot of community. I started spinning fire because I was introduced to a fire spinning community at a young age and that community has done nothing but grow. I am at a point where I would like to be less of a spectator to the community and start sharing and contributing what I'm learning about flow!
Part of my clowning journey is getting to explore movement and exercise my hand eye coordination. I have always loved picking up new sports and getting to explore the movements associated with it. With flow there are a lot of different props you can practice with their own unique properties. To maintain my health to flow it's been really important to eat healthy and stretch doing yoga and exploring other variations. I look forward to getting to share and learn more.
I love being able to go out to events and support my friends as best I can. There is a group called Bad Hat Fire that throws events where I’ll spin. I also love to spin at Party Liberation Foundations events when I can make it out to Richmond VA. One other place you can catch me is at the Fruit in Durham North Carolina. I usually try to attend events by Strung cheese and Geodesic productions. I am starting to branch out more and more so i'm excited to share my exploration to where I take my flow!
I am really excited to continue sharing my journey with my friends and those who are interested. This is a very new process for me and I am working out some of the kinks to continue to develop this part of my life. I have been trying to be better about documenting my flow with the photography and videography gear I already have and finding ways to push it to multiple social media platforms. So thank you for bearing with me through this process.
